NAPSI Reports Facts from Fiction on Dietary Supplements

In recent headlines the North American Precis Syndicate (NAPSI) reported on how facts versus sensational news media may inform in addition to confusing consumers with misinformation based on studies unrelated to the core understanding of dietary supplements. The NAPSI article mentioned differences in testing used for pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements, along with sensationalized articles written by the mainstream media as some of the misinformation distributed to consumers.

In 2006, the Lewin Group published research on the benefits of dietary supplements on the cost of healthcare in addition to a multitude of advantages they have on the consumers who take them on a regular basis. This type of research has reigned heavily in 2009 due to issues like the rising cost of healthcare for all. NAPSI spoke to certified clinical nutritionist and nutrition education manager, Neil E. Levin for NOW Foods who stated that “the total body of scientific evidence overall supports the benefits of nutritional supplementation.” Levin continued to say “surveys show that most people trust vitamins, relying on them as a form of nutritional insurance, and most doctors surveyed recommend them to their patients.”

Providing clear and factual information has definitely been part of the dietary supplement’s industry leader’s mission. Attempting to combat the mainstream media’s diversions from accurate information on a multi-market and its major benefits to the overall positive health of the consumers is slowly prevailing each year as studies are performed on ingredients such as Vitamin D, Omega-3 fatty acids and amino acids.
