Santa Barbara, CA based non-profit organization Vitamin Angels went into action to help the children in Haiti by sending vitamins and other nutritional supplements to aid the disaster relief last month. Partnering with Hope for Haiti, the organization was able to provide 1 million children’s multivitamins which contributed to their current and existing support to the Haitian children.
In a press release, Vitamin Angels’ president Howard B. Schiffer noted some concerns of his organization’s efforts to help the children. “Having been in Haiti just a few months ago, and knowing the poor condition of the infrastructure before the earthquake, we’ve been immediately concerned about our in-country partners, how the children we are currently working with are doing and how the recent disaster will impact our long-term plans for Haiti.”
As an advocate for children’s health and a partner in the nutritional supplement industry, Vitamin Angels focuses on providing vitamins to newborns, infants and children under the age of five to decrease global malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies in impoverished areas around the world.
