Nutritional Bars to the Rescue

Nutritional Bars have been transformed from the grainy textured products to some of the industry’s tasty treats and meal replacements for the consumption of all generations. Women and men eat them for health, weight loss and sports purposes, while the market unfolds to provide goods with ingredients targeting children, bone health and more.  For several years, the nutritional bar’s content has evolved due to taste, texture and appearance preferences of the consumer, but certain ingredients have and will always be a staple.

In addition to ingredients such as fruit pieces and nuts that are typically added to the classic nutritional bar formulation, customized blends that may appeal to certain consumers like iron, Vitamin D and C, and calcium have surfaced. Products for pregnant women, kids and seniors have popped up on the market full of flavor and have had a positive growth in sales in previous years. With a strong billion dollar hold in the nutritional supplement industry, these bars still have a multi-function and multi-purpose force to be reckoned with. Consumers are now focusing on products that will assist them in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The supermarkets are filled with products with ingredients that may not necessarily deliver this and are generally categorized as “junk food.”

Emulsifiers such as Lecithin with fats to inhibit oil leakage, while ingredients like dextrose assist with binding the variety of ingredients used to create these delicious treats. With every ingredient used to make nutritional bars, a particular purpose is being served in the name of taste, appearance and texture – a winning combination!
